The ECL Language Test

Targets

Candidates who reach the age of 14 during the calendar year can register for and take the ECL language test. This is a monolingual paper-based test designed to assess general language skills at four CEFR levels: A2, B1, B2 and C1. The test tasks are based on everyday situations and on the communicative skills of the candidates. The ECL exam is a general language assessment that does not target specific age groups, cultures, countries or professions.

In simple terms, the ECL language examinations in German are aimed at teenagers and adults over the age of 14 who :

Who have studied...
Or are still learning German as a foreign language and need to assess their general skills in German listening, speaking, reading, and writing at a specific level of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages);
Who have the intention
To improve their training, study or employment perspectives, and therefore need a certificate of general German attesting to their skills at a specific CEFR level;
Who Immigrate
